QuickTime

Once again, Ryanne Hodson of RyanIsHungry comes to vloggers’ rescue. People who own the Xacti HD1000 camera have noted they can’t play back their footage after updating QuickTime software. Ryanne documents how to replace the H.264 codec in QuickTime so you can use your footage once again if you own one of these bad boys. Thank Ryanne by commenting on her post rather than here. Also she’s got links to more solutions documented in Apple’s QuickTime support forums.

QuickTime

So Bekah, that’s MissBHavens to you, needed a graphic for her new blog, and she wanted a cartoon video camera with herself in the viewer. I offered to take a picture she sent me and put it “into” the viewer, using one of my favorite magic wands, Photoshop. She asked, “How do you DO that!?” So I recorded myself doing it, so she could see. This one’s for you, Miss B. And for anyone else who wants to know how to do it.

With this post I have added an “on-demand” category that I’ll use whenever I post a screencast in response to a specific request.

Finally! A community comes together.

Awhile back, Clintus McGintus and I figured out we’re both in the Phoenix metro area and we’ve been trying to get together but our schedules don’t mesh up.

So he emails me and tells me Steve Garfield will be at the Valley Ho at ZuZu’s, and we decide to meet each other and Steve at the same time.

Steve arrives with Carol, and then all these other people recognize them, and ooh la la, we’ve got a party of seven Phoenicians and two Bostonians and it’s a big two hour rap and we’ve all got a bunch of new friends. I had no clue so many people would show up.

Kick ass! And thanks to Steve and Carol for catalyzing Phoenix to come together.

So far I think Clintus made the best video. There’s a bunch of cool photos on Flickr with more to come. And here’s who was there (and their links if they gave ‘em):

I’m really sad to announce that the August 13 videoblogging workshop at Live & Let Live Cafe is cancelled. The owners have been really supportive, the cafe has a great atmosphere, but bottom line, we can’t do this without stable internet access, and their wifi is just not up to it at this time.

We are working actively to reschedule, and will post our new launch information just as soon as possible.
